RUNNING for Fitness
Running is a VERY honest sport. You get out of it what you put into it.
Running just might be the most convenient workout going. You don’t need to be a skilled athlete, and there’s no fancy equipment involved; just lace up and go. It’s also one of the most efficient ways to blast fat and burn calories. However, some people find, especially if they are NEW to running, that just lacing up and going doesn’t advance them much in their fitness. They forget a very IMPORTANT part of training – using RESISTANCE!
Do I think running is great? YES! Does it make me feel alive? ABSOLUTELY!
However, being pregnant with twins certainly slowed me down … and by the time the twins were born, I had lost a lot of muscle. However, any spare moment I had, I laced up and headed out the door. I was enjoying myself; but I was slower than ever and those last 15lbs just wouldn’t come off. I could no longer see definition in my leg muscles and my legs just felt heavy! My knees starting hurting again and it just wasn’t going as easily as I had hoped! I had to really evaluate where I was at and re-visit what I was doing to reach my goals. It too starting resistance/weight training to really notice a difference in my body. I noticed a difference in how I felt, how I moved and how I ran! It made me faster and stronger and HAPPIER! These Beachbody programs I was introduced to just totally made my running step up a level and I can’t wait for my next race to see how much faster and easier it goes!
